Club UYN Privacy Policy

Club UYN® is a resource offered by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (http://missingkids.com) and the NetSmartz® Workshop (http://netsmartz.org). We are committed to providing a fun, safe, and secure age-appropriate web-site for children of all ages. Club UYN is a site where children learn how to be safer on the Internet and in the real world through games, videos, and other interactive activities. We are dedicated to safeguarding any personal information collected on the Club UYN website. Our privacy policy and our information practices adhere to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”).

To help ensure a rewarding online experience for parents, guardians, and children our privacy procedures and security measures are noted below.

Privacy Procedures

Initial registration with Club UYN requires a parent’s or a guardian’s e-mail address. This email address is correlated with the account username. We use this information to send parents and guardians instructions for activating their child’s Club UYN account; to notify parents and guardians about changes to their child’s account; and to send parents information about Club UYN and other NetSmartz resources, at their request.

We may also request a username and e-mail address when a user submits a form through the “Contact Us” portion of the Club UYN website. This information is not kept and is only used to respond to the inquiry.

For some of our online activities - such as polls or surveys - we may ask users to provide information that is not personally identifiable, such as country of residence or a visitor’s favorite color. This information is not kept.

If your child submits stories, artwork, comments, or anything to us that is posted on our site, he or she will be identified only by his or her non-gender specific username. We do not accept full names for safety reasons and will assign a nickname to the submitted material if the username is not provided.

Additionally, when visitors come to our site, we may passively collect certain non-personally identifiable computer information, such as the type of computer operating system (e.g., Windows XP or Mac OS), the user’s IP Address, the web browser (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer) being used, and information regarding the Internet service provider.

Security Measures

The Club UYN website is self contained, and does not link to any other sites.

Club UYN will never sell or provide any personally identifying information to a third-party.

Club UYN does not allow third-party companies to solicit our users. Our intention is to keep Club UYN free from product advertising.

We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online.
